Since its launch five(!) years ago, Glossier has given us many gifts in the form of Super serums, a fragrance for You, and dog toys (because, why not?). But with the brand’s latest launch, it has finally delivered the gift I have been wanting for years: the final nail in matte skin’s coffin. I get it — some people want to remove all signs of oiliness from their complexion. But dewy skin, for me, has always felt more fun, more natural, and more lively. If your beauty icon is also a glazed donut then Glossier’s latest launch is for you. As of Monday, October 14, please welcome Futuredew, the brand’s first oil-serum hybrid. Glossier describes the one-ounce bottle as “your skin, but glowier.” If the Glossier aesthetic is bright, natural-looking skin, Futuredew has it distilled down to one product. The product description reads: “You know that dewy sheen you get after you put on all your serums and moisturizers? The one that looks so good but evaporates as soon as you leave the bathroom? We created Futuredew to bottle that effect and make it last.” And in the process they essentially created a new category: aesthetic skin care. The glaz...

14-year-old Louisville entrepreneurs get products featured at 2019 Emmy Awards

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — While many kids are out playing sports or video games with their friends, two young teenage entrepreneurs in Louisville are spending their spare time building a business, and it has now landed them in Hollywood. “We created Ooh La Lemon because we love working together,” co-founder of Ooh La Lemon, Hailey Hertzman said. Operating a lemonade stand as a kid could be pretty simple – squeeze lemons and charge a quarter for a cup, but Hailey and Katie took that idea to the next level. “We both really loved running the lemonade stand so we thought why not run our own business with our own products,” Hertzman said. At 12-years-old, the two won the 2017 National Entrepreneur of the Year Award from Lemonade Day – a program teaching children how to start, own and run their own business. Using their prize money, the girls co-founded Ooh La Lemon. “We sell purses, dog collars, leashes, bow tie sets, kitchen supplies, dish towels, and socks,” Hertzman said. The girls sell hip and trendy lemon-inspired products online and at a pop-up shop. It caught Hollywood’s attention, at this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards.”We couldn’t believe it,” Vonder...

China’s top diplomat says Beijing willing to buy more U.S. products

NEW YORK (Reuters) – China’s top diplomat said on Thursday that China was willing to buy more U.S. products, and said trade talks would yield results if both sides “take more enthusiastic measures” to show goodwill and reduce “pessimistic language” in their trade dispute. Wang Yi, China’s state councillor and foreign minister, said in response to questions from Reuters that the Trump administration had shown goodwill by waiving tariffs on many Chinese products. “And so, (on) the Chinese side, we are willing to buy more products that are needed by the Chinese market,” Wang said on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly’s annual gathering of world leaders. “We hope both sides can take more enthusiastic measures, reduce pessimistic language and actions. If everyone does this, talks will not only resume, but will proceed and yield results.” The United States and China are preparing for another round of high-level trade talks in early October in Washington to try to find a way out of their nearly 15-month trade war. CNBC reported on Thursday that the talks are scheduled for Oct. 10-11 in Washington, citing people familiar with the arrangements. The U.S. Trade Repr...

You’ve got the best gaming console of 2019 in your hands, the Nintendo Switch Lite, but now you need the right gear to protect it, enhance it and help it reach its full potential.  One of the best investments you can make for your new Nintendo Switch Lite is a travel case. Not only will it protect your console while you’re on the road, it provides a landing pad for your games, charging cable and headphones.  No matter what kind of case you want, from licensed character totes to understated travel cases that match your Switch Lite’s finish, PowerA has all your officially licensed gear. And while their character cases are fun, my favorite is the Play and Protect Kit. It’s a minimalist solution that protects from scratches and provides a much-needed kickstand for your Switch Lite, the one thing Nintendo eliminated from the design that I really miss. It’s perfect for when you want to u...

TikTok’s new ‘Hashtag Challenge Plus’ lets video viewers shop for products in the app

TikTok, the short-form video platform favored by young adults and teens, has launched a new feature that allows users to shop for products associated with a sponsored Hashtag Challenge, without leaving its app. These sponsored challenges are Gen Z-friendly marketing campaigns where users are prompted to post videos of them using a product — like showing off favorite outfits from Uniqlo or Guess, for example. Or they might participate in some sort of manufactured viral trend, like singing favorite Disney songs ahead of a Disney-themed episode of American Idol. The new e-commerce feature, called Hashtag Challenge Plus, adds a shoppable component to the hashtag. In addition to creating and viewing videos featuring the brand’s sponsored hashtag, a separate tab features an in-app experience where products from the campaign can be purchased within TikTok itself. Last week, Kroger was the first brand to try out the new feature, according to a report from AdWeek. While not exactly a company that exudes youth appeal, Kroger found a way to reach TikTok’s young adult audience through their hashtag campaign. In partnership with four TikTok influencers — Joey Klaasen, Cosette Rinab, Mia Fin...
