14-year-old Louisville entrepreneurs get products featured at 2019 Emmy Awards

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — While many kids are out playing sports or video games with their friends, two young teenage entrepreneurs in Louisville are spending their spare time building a business, and it has now landed them in Hollywood. “We created Ooh La Lemon because we love working together,” co-founder of Ooh La Lemon, Hailey Hertzman said. Operating a lemonade stand as a kid could be pretty simple – squeeze lemons and charge a quarter for a cup, but Hailey and Katie took that idea to the next level. “We both really loved running the lemonade stand so we thought why not run our own business with our own products,” Hertzman said. At 12-years-old, the two won the 2017 National Entrepreneur of the Year Award from Lemonade Day – a program teaching children how to start, own and run their own business. Using their prize money, the girls co-founded Ooh La Lemon. “We sell purses, dog collars, leashes, bow tie sets, kitchen supplies, dish towels, and socks,” Hertzman said. The girls sell hip and trendy lemon-inspired products online and at a pop-up shop. It caught Hollywood’s attention, at this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards.”We couldn’t believe it,” Vonder...

How often do you see an ex-works Porsche race car hit the auction block? It rarely

How often do you see an ex-works Porsche race car hit the auction block? It rarely happens and this is one of the few that were sold publicly in recent history. This is a 1960 Porsche 718 RS 60, member of the 718 RS family of open-top sports cars built and raced by Zuffenhausen for half a decade beginning with the RSK in 1957. The RS 60 appeared at a time when sports car manufacturers started realizing that mounting the engine behind the cockpit might be beneficial to the performance of the car after witnessing Jack Brabham muscling his way to the title in F1 in 1959. Porsche was already doing it and had been doing it for years, beginning with the 550 Spyder, a car infamous for having an important part to play in actor James Dean’s death but one that was, more importantly, a successful car in road racing. The RS 60 Spyder raced everywhere around the world, following the trek of the World Endurance Championship and, along the way, ticking starts at Le Mans, the Nurburgring, and Targa Florio. Only 18 were built in period and the factory kept for its own use a mere four examples and this, according to RM Sotheby’s, was “the only to likely become available”. Powered by a...

Redmi 8A with 6.22-inch HD+ display, 5,000mAh battery official

Xiaomi has just announced one of its newest phone in time for the Big Billion Days sale in India. The short-lived Redmi 7A is now making way for the new Redmi 8A and the new iteration has some big upgrades at a reasonable price point. The Redmi 8A comes with a new attractive design, a solid battery with fast charge, a bigger display, and much more. In terms of design, the Redmi 8A has a polycarbonate build but the rear has what Xiaomi calls an Aura Wave Grip design. The Redmi 8A features a 6.22-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with Xiaomi’s dot notch design. It has a 19:9 aspect ratio, 720×1520 pixel resolution, with Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. There’s P2i splash-proof coatings as well. The processor is the Snapdragon 439 SoC which is a pretty entry-level chip from Qualcomm. The rear camera is a 12MP Sony IMX 363 sensor while the front also gets an upgraded 8MP sensor. It supports AI face unlock because there’s no fingerprint reader. The 5,000mAh battery is a very good increment here, especially with its  Type-C fast charging capacity, however, the device comes with a 10W (5V/2A) in the box.  It runs Android 9 Pie-based MIUI 10. Redmi 8A has been priced starting at Rs. 6,499 for ...

You’ve got the best gaming console of 2019 in your hands, the Nintendo Switch Lite, but now you need the right gear to protect it, enhance it and help it reach its full potential.  One of the best investments you can make for your new Nintendo Switch Lite is a travel case. Not only will it protect your console while you’re on the road, it provides a landing pad for your games, charging cable and headphones.  No matter what kind of case you want, from licensed character totes to understated travel cases that match your Switch Lite’s finish, PowerA has all your officially licensed gear. And while their character cases are fun, my favorite is the Play and Protect Kit. It’s a minimalist solution that protects from scratches and provides a much-needed kickstand for your Switch Lite, the one thing Nintendo eliminated from the design that I really miss. It’s perfect for when you want to u...

Google ‘Nest Wifi’ may bring beacons that double as speakers on Oct. 15

Google’s mesh Wi-Fi router — Google Wifi — is nearly three years old, but it may be getting a radically different design next month. 9to5Google is reporting that the company is prepping a new “Nest Wifi” that pairs a single new hub router with two new “beacons” that will double as Google Assistant smart speakers, giving you the equivalent of two additional Google Home Mini speakers to cover additional rooms of your house with both Wi-Fi and sound. You may note that Google would be effectively copying Amazon’s second-gen Eero router by going with a pair of beacons to extend Wi-Fi coverage across your house, which could have pros and cons. In our review, we found the second-gen Eero to be just as capable as the first-gen model overall, but it doesn’t necessarily deliver as much bandwidth at the beacons as Eero’s full-size routers do. But Amazon still doesn’t have smart speakers embedded in its routers, having only acquired Eero earlier this year, so that’s an opportunity that Google could take advantage of first. It wouldn’t be the first time Google’s doubled up on smart home devices, either: the company took some flak in February for shipping a secret microphone in the Nest Secu...
